LED Technology & Specifications

LED (Light Emitting Diode) lighting uses semiconductor technology to produce light far more efficiently than incandescent bulbs. LEDs last far longer than traditional bulbs, produce less heat, contain no mercury, and deliver superior color rendering. A typical LED fixture lasts 50,000+ hours.

Lumens per watt measures lighting efficiency — how much light output you get per unit of energy consumed. ASD fixtures typically deliver 120-150 lm/W, meaning a 100W ASD LED fixture produces as much light as a much higher-wattage traditional fixture while using significantly less energy.

Color temperature is measured in Kelvin (K). 2700-3000K produces warm, yellowish light ideal for homes, restaurants, and hospitality. 4000K produces neutral white light perfect for offices, retail, and general commercial use. 5000K produces bright daylight-white light suited for warehouses, garages, workshops, and task lighting. Many ASD fixtures feature CCT Selectable technology — one fixture, multiple color temperatures, switchable on-site.

CRI (Color Rendering Index) measures how accurately a light source reveals the true colors of objects, rated on a 0-100 scale. ASD fixtures typically rate CRI 80-90+, meaning colors appear natural and vivid. High CRI is critical for retail displays, art galleries, medical facilities, and anywhere accurate color perception matters.

CCT (Correlated Color Temperature) Selectable fixtures allow you to switch between multiple color temperatures — typically 3000K, 4000K, and 5000K — using a switch on the fixture. This eliminates the need to stock multiple SKUs and allows fine-tuning the light color after installation based on the actual space.

IP (Ingress Protection) ratings indicate how well a fixture resists dust and water. The first digit (0-6) rates dust protection; the second digit (0-9) rates water protection. IP54 protects against dust and water splashes. IP65 is dust-tight and resists water jets — ideal for outdoor and wet locations. IP66 handles powerful water jets. IP69K withstands high-pressure, high-temperature wash-downs, required for food processing facilities.

UL (Underwriters Laboratories) certification means the product meets electrical safety standards — required for code compliance and insurance purposes. DLC (DesignLights Consortium) listing certifies the fixture meets energy efficiency standards, qualifying it for utility rebates and energy incentive programs. Many ASD commercial fixtures carry UL certification, and many are DLC listed — check the individual product page for the specific certifications that fixture carries.

Switching from traditional lighting to ASD LED fixtures can significantly reduce lighting energy consumption. Actual savings depend on your existing fixtures, usage hours, and local electricity rates — contact us through our Contact page for help estimating savings for your project.

ASD Smart RGBW fixtures combine standard white LED light (W) with Red, Green, and Blue LEDs, allowing you to produce millions of colors plus tunable white light. Many support app-based control of color, brightness, scheduling, and scenes — check the individual product page for the specific connectivity and control options that model supports. Available in panels, flushmounts, wall sconces, steplights, and more.

Commercial & Industrial Lighting

For warehouses with higher ceiling heights, ASD LED High Bay fixtures are the optimal choice — high-efficiency light output, easy chain or bracket mounting, and IP65 ratings for dusty environments. For lower ceilings, ASD Linear High Bays provide even light distribution across wider areas.

ASD LED Panels (2x2 and 2x4) are the standard for commercial office lighting. They deliver uniform, glare-free illumination with high CRI. For modern open-plan offices, ASD Architectural Linear fixtures provide sleek, suspended lighting. Many office fixtures are DLC listed for energy rebate eligibility.

ASD LED Area Lights and Flood Lights are designed for parking areas, featuring weather-resistant ratings and photocell-ready dusk-to-dawn operation. For parking garages, ASD LED Canopy Lights provide bright, even illumination with vandal-resistant housings.

Retail environments benefit from high-CRI lighting to make merchandise look appealing. ASD LED Panels and Track Lights provide bright, inviting retail illumination. Adjustable fixtures allow you to highlight displays and create visual focal points.

Yes. ASD offers NSF-rated LED fixtures designed for food processing environments, with high IP ratings for wash-down resistance and shatterproof polycarbonate lenses. Check the individual product page for the specific certifications each fixture carries.

ASD LED Sports Lights and High Bays are engineered for gymnasiums and athletic facilities, delivering high-output illumination with minimal glare and fast on/off cycling (no warm-up time, unlike metal halide).

Residential Lighting

ASD LED Wafer Lights and Recessed Downlights in 4-inch and 6-inch sizes are ideal for kitchens. Choose 3000-3500K for a warm, inviting feel or 4000K for brighter task lighting. ASD wafer lights are ultra-thin, making them well suited for shallow ceiling cavities.

ASD LED Vanity Lights provide even, shadow-free illumination ideal for bathrooms. Available in multiple finishes and sizes, with high CRI for accurate color rendering — important for grooming and makeup application. Choose 3000K for a warm, spa-like ambiance.

ASD LED Wall Packs and Flood Lights with built-in motion sensors provide bright, energy-efficient security lighting. Weather-rated for all conditions, they turn on instantly (no warm-up time). Dusk-to-dawn models with photocells run automatically.

Many ASD LED fixtures are compatible with standard TRIAC and ELV dimmers. Check the product specifications for dimming compatibility. For best results, use dimmers rated for LED loads.

ASD LED Linear fixtures and LED Troffer Panels directly replace T8 and T12 fluorescent tube fixtures, delivering the same or better light output while using less energy, containing no mercury, and lasting longer.

Installation & Compatibility

Most ASD commercial fixtures require a licensed electrician for installation due to hardwired electrical connections. Residential fixtures like wafer lights and flushmounts can often be installed by homeowners comfortable with basic electrical work. Always turn off power at the breaker before any installation.

Many ASD commercial fixtures support 0-10V dimming, the industry standard for commercial dimming control. Some also support DALI and DMX protocols for advanced lighting control systems. Check individual product specs for dimming compatibility details.

ASD commercial fixtures with 0-10V, DALI, or DMX interfaces can integrate with building management systems (BMS) for centralized lighting control, scheduling, daylight harvesting, and occupancy-based dimming. Many Smart RGBW fixtures offer additional app-based connectivity — check the individual product page for details.

Most ASD commercial fixtures operate on universal voltage (120-277V). Some residential fixtures are 120V only, and some high-output industrial fixtures require higher voltage. Voltage specifications are listed on each product page.

Most ASD fixtures ship with the necessary mounting hardware and installation instructions. High bay fixtures typically include chains or V-hooks; recessed fixtures include mounting clips; wall packs include mounting brackets and gaskets. Check the individual product page to confirm what's included.

Warranty & Returns

ASD products are covered by the manufacturer's warranty, under the manufacturer's published terms for each product line. Coverage varies by product line — if you have a question about a specific product, reach out through our Contact page and we'll get you the details.

Contact us through our Contact page with your order number, product model, and a description of the issue. If a return is needed, we'll issue a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) with shipping instructions, and the claim is handled under the manufacturer's warranty terms for that product line. Please don't ship anything back before you have an RMA — unauthorized returns cannot be accepted.

Every return starts with us — contact our Contact page with your order number and we'll issue an RMA before anything ships back. Warranty claims follow the manufacturer's terms. If you ordered the wrong product, contact us within 10 days of delivery: uninstalled items in their original packaging can be returned to the RMA address for a refund of 70% of the product price (30% restocking fee; you cover return shipping). Custom orders may be final sale. Full terms: Returns & Warranty.

ASD LED fixtures are rated for tens of thousands of hours of operation, with the exact rating depending on the product line — check the individual product page for the specific lifespan rating. LED fixtures maintain a high percentage of their original brightness throughout their rated lifespan.

Fixtures rated for outdoor use (typically IP65 or higher) are warranted for outdoor installation per the manufacturer's terms. Installing indoor-rated fixtures outdoors can void the warranty — check the product page for the fixture's rated environment before installing.

Energy Savings & Rebates

Most electric utilities offer rebates for DLC-listed LED fixtures. Many ASD commercial fixtures are DLC listed. Contact your local utility company or visit dsireusa.org to find available programs in your area. We can provide the DLC product documentation needed for rebate applications.

Payback periods vary by project, existing fixtures, usage hours, and local utility rebates. Many commercial LED retrofits pay for themselves within a few years through energy savings alone, and utility rebates can shorten that further. Contact us through our Contact page for help estimating payback for your project.

ASD LED fixtures can contribute to LEED certification in multiple categories, including Energy & Atmosphere and Indoor Environmental Quality. DLC-listed ASD fixtures meet the efficiency thresholds required for LEED energy credits — check the individual product page for certification details.
